A 1906 copy of Le Monde et la Guerre Russo-Japonaise by French political writer André Chéradame, published in Paris by Plon-Nourrit et Cie. Issued as the second edition, the book was written soon after the Russo-Japanese War and examines the global political impact of Japan’s victory over Russia. The title page notes the inclusion of 20 maps, and there is a printed dedication to the historian Albert Sorel.

Bound in the original paper wrappers, the book measures about 23 × 15 cm. Condition is vintage but sound: the covers show wear, tanning, and fraying, while the rough-cut pages are toned with scattered foxing.

Description des Zones forestières du Japon is a seminal work by Dr. Seiroku Honda (1866–1952), the “Father of Japanese Parks” and creator of the Meiji Jingu sacred forest. Published at the turn of the 20th century, it introduced Japan’s forestry science to the West, detailing vegetation zones, tree species, and forestry products of the Japanese Empire, including those exhibited at the 1900 Expo. Issued by the Direction des Forêts, Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, and printed in Paris by Maurice de Brunoff, the book is in French. Condition is Good to Fair, with binding wear and notable foxing consistent with age.

This volume is a somber and historically important primary source on the Boxer Rebellion (1900) and the severe losses suffered by the China Inland Mission. This copy bears a handwritten Japanese inscription dated “Meiji 34” (1901), indicating acquisition in Japan shortly after publication and adding notable provenance. The book contains detailed biographies and firsthand accounts of missionaries’ hardships in Shansi, Honan, and other provinces, with numerous photographic portraits of martyred families. It includes two folding maps: a color route map of the Shansi and Honan missionaries and a large map of China. Bound in original dark cloth with gilt lettering and TEG, the condition is Fair to Good, with spine loss, edge wear, foxing, and age-related map creases.

Bound in the original red cloth with striking black and gilt Japanese motifs—fans, cranes, and blossoms. Profusely illustrated with wood engravings, including a frontispiece and maps.

Condition is Good Minus: shelf wear, fraying at the spine ends, bumped corners, and age-toned pages with scattered foxing. A period gift inscription reads, “Merry Christmas from Flora. 1880.”
