Charles Rockwell Lanman、Harvard University Press、1・・・
This is the 16th printing (1963) of A Sanskrit Reader: Text and Vocabulary and Notes by Charles Rockwell Lanman, Harvard’s renowned Sanskrit professor. First published in 1884, this book became a standard textbook for learning Sanskrit in Western academia and greatly influenced Indology. The reader is organized into three parts: Part I offers selections from classical Sanskrit literature (Vedic, Brahmana, Epic, and Puranic texts); Part II provides vocabulary, explanations, and grammatical aids; Part III contains detailed notes and commentary. It is designed to systematically improve a student’s Sanskrit reading skills. The hardcover has dark blue/black cloth with gold lettering on the spine. It shows signs of age: worn corners, rubbing on the cover, fraying at the spine, yellowed pages, and foxing. Despite this, the binding is intact and the text fully readable. This edition is a historically significant academic text and a valuable collectible for scholars of Sanskrit, linguistics.
