Bound in publisher’s original blue cloth, with gilt and black decoration to the front board and spine. The spine cloth is a slightly different shade of blue from the boards. A folding map accompanies the title page. The spine’s upper edge is worn with a small loss. The text block is well preserved and clean throughout. Tight and sound binding.

Second Edition, 1893. Bound in publisher’s original maroon cloth with a gilt heraldic motif on the front board, and with the title, author’s name, and editor’s name blind-stamped into the cloth, and gilt lettering to the spine. All edges darkened. Noticeable foxing from the contents to the half-title page and the first page of text. The remaining text is relatively clean with only occasional minor foxing. A printed bookplate of W. Paley Baildon, F.S.A., 5 Stone Buildings, Lincoln’s Inn, W.C., is affixed to the front pastedown. One folding map is present at the end. A tight and sound copy.
