Two volumes, complete.Issued as part of the commemorative series Padova in onore di Francesco Petrarca.Quarto. Both volumes preserved in their original printed paper wrappers, decorated with an elaborate medievalising woodcut-style design. Stab-sewn and secured with original cloth ribbons, as issued.Bookplates (ex-libris) to the front pastedowns of both volumes.
At p. 224 there is a complete sewing split, though, owing to the original ribbon-tied binding structure, the volumes remain perfectly readable. Spine damage to Volume II. The rear endpaper of Volume I bears a previous owner’s signature and date.The wrappers show edge wear, spine wear, and age-related toning, consistent with the fragile nature of the original paper covers. Internally, the text is generally clean throughout.An attractive and scholarly early twentieth-century Italian commemorative set dedicated to Francesco Petrarca, retaining its original ribbon-tied format.
