This 1974 printing of Georges Poulet’s La Conscience critique, published by Librairie José Corti, represents a major work of the Geneva School. Poulet explores the phenomenology of reading as a “consciousness of the author’s consciousness,” with essays on Sartre, Bachelard, and Blanchot. The softcover volume (grand in-8) is an acceptable/good reading copy: heavy foxing on preliminary pages, a sunned spine, and edge wear. The text remains fully readable, with characteristic Corti deckle edges. Despite age wear, it retains the distinctive tactile and philosophical atmosphere of classic Corti editions.
