Up for auction is a vintage 1979 edition of Chez les passants by the major Symbolist writer Villiers de l’Isle-Adam. Published in Paris by Éditions Plasma in the “Les Feuilles Vives” series, this book brings together short prose pieces, fantasies, pamphlets, and memories first published after the author’s death in 1890. The Work: Villiers de l’Isle-Adam (1838–1889) is a key figure of both Symbolism and the Decadent movement. This collection shows his sharp humor, cutting irony, and proud rejection of ordinary life. It offers an engaging look at the mind behind Axël and The Future Eve.
