New Edition, Corrected, Revised, and Enlarged. In Four Volumes, octavo.
Bound in the publisher’s original ultramarine-blue blind-stamped buckram cloth, with gilt-blocked titling and decorative panels to the spines. Each volume includes a frontispiece with tissue guard, together with additional engraved plates throughout. The second volume retains the folding family tree at the rear, clean and intact.
Vol. I shows cloth wear to the rear joint, though this does not affect the soundness of the binding. Boards and spines exhibit expected rubbing and age-related handling marks for a mid-19th-century cloth binding.
There is foxing and minor staining to the titles and endpapers of all volumes. The text blocks show occasional foxing, slight offsetting, and sporadic minor stains, but are generally clean and in good condition overall.
Bindings across the set remain sound and tight, and the set is generally well preserved.
