Illustrated with numerous detailed wood engravings by Yan’ Dargent, famed for his work with Jules Verne, showing birds in natural and human settings. The front endpaper bears a purple ink inscription, “2e Prix d’Excellence G. Anizon,” identifying it as a 19th-century school prize book. Condition: Fair / Acceptable heavy foxing throughout, but the red cloth binding is sound and text and plates are complete and legible. A representative Second Empire “Livre de Prix”, valued for its engravings despite age-related wear.
