First edition, 1824. 8vo. Illustrated with five engraved portraits, including the frontispiece. Bound in the original paper-covered boards, possibly rebacked in cloth, with a remnant of the original printed paper label to the spine. The binding shows general age-related wear. A previous owner’s inscription appears on the front free endpaper. The title page and a few adjacent leaves are slightly loose, but remain securely attached, and the binding is otherwise sound. A small number of leaves remain unopened. Some age toning and occasional light spotting, but the contents remain generally clean and well preserved for a book of this age.
