Buddhaghosa (Original Commentator); J. Takakusu & ・・・
This report covers Volume II of the Samantapāsādikā, Buddhaghosa’s key commentary on the Vinaya Piṭaka, published by the Pali Text Society (PTS) in 1969. The Samantapāsādikā explains the rules and regulations of monastic life in the Vinaya Piṭaka, one of the three main sections of the Pāli Canon in Theravāda Buddhism. Buddhaghosa, a 5th-century scholar, is the author, and the text is essential for studying Buddhist history, law, and monastic practices. The PTS, founded in London in 1881, produces authoritative Romanized Pāli editions used worldwide. This 1969 edition, a reprint of the 1927 original, was edited by Japanese scholars J. Takakusu and Dr. M. Nagai, highlighting early 20th-century collaboration between Eastern and Western Buddhist studies. The hardcover is grey cloth with gold lettering, in Good condition (Grade B), with sound binding and complete text. It is highly recommended for academic libraries, collectors, and scholars of Pāli and Theravāda Buddhism.
