Thick, heavy Royal octavo. Complete in three volumes.
Bound in publisher’s original purple cloth with gilt titling to spines and an embossed publisher’s motif on the lower right corner of each front board.The cloth shows some uneven discolouration to the boards; spines are slightly faded with minor wear at head and tail.
A small bookseller’s sticker is present on the front pastedown of Volume I. Endpapers of each volume show some foxing; fore and bottom edges remain untrimmed. Text blocks show faint age toning but are generally clean throughout. Bindings of all volumes are firm and sound. A complete and solid set of this influential anthropological study on the origins of social sentiments and institutions.
