PREFACE
This book is intended as a picture album of colorful memories to those who have spent their days in Japan and as a carefully and conscientiously edited guide book for those who are planning to visit our land in the near future. It is the Author's sincere hope that this book will prove useful in both these ways.
"One seeing rather than a hundred lectures" is an old Japanese proverb; its Western equivalent would perhaps be "Seeing is believing." It is exactly this fact that has caused the Author to try something different from the ordinary run of guide books, a pictorial guide book with the first and last emphasis on photographs.
For the convenience of the reader this book is divided into the following eight sections:
