First edition thus. Complete set of three volumes. 12mo.Bound in the publisher’s original printed paper wrappers, as issued, forming part of the Petite Bibliothèque Littéraire series published by Alphonse Lemerre.
Volume I includes a tissue-guarded frontispiece.
There are small alphabetic initials inscribed at the head of each subtitle page.
Bindings remain firm and in very good condition overall, with only minor wear to the spines and edges consistent with age.
The text blocks show a faint, even toning but no notable foxing, and are remarkably clean throughout considering the vintage.
A well-preserved and complete example of this finely edited 19th-century edition of Marguerite de Navarre’s Heptaméron, with scholarly apparatus by Frédéric Dillaye and a prefatory notice by Anatole France.
