Three-volume complete set. Leather-bound edition. Large Octavo.Bound in semi-flexible brown leather with gilt lettering to the spines. The set is divided into three volumes by pagination: pp. 1–274, 275–530, and 531–784. Profusely illustrated with black-and-white and sepia images, including engraved illustrations. Top edge gilt. There is offset toning to pages 275 and 531, otherwise the text remains in very good condition.
Leather is worn along the upper spine ends and bottom edges, but the bindings remain strong.Owner’s stamp to the front endpapers of all three volumes. Small bookseller’s sticker to the front pastedown of Volume Three (pp. 531–784).
Frontispiece features a photograph of Brinkley with a tissue guard.
