12mo. Bound in the publisher’s original blue cloth, elaborately decorated in gilt and blind, with pictorial gilt decoration and lettering to the spine and upper board. Illustrated with 16 plates, including a tissue-guarded frontispiece and an illustrated title page. The binding shows rubbing and wear to the extremities, with some loss of gilt, particularly at the head and foot of the spine; the corners are lightly worn. The top edge is darkened and somewhat soiled. A previous owner’s printed address label is affixed to the front pastedown. The binding remains firm and sound, though rather tight, particularly at the front, and should be opened with care. The contents show general age-toning, scattered foxing and occasional staining, but remain complete, generally clean and readily legible throughout.
