This is Volume I of the Sumangala-vilāsinī, the ancient commentary on the Dīgha Nikāya of the Pāli Canon, written by the important Theravāda scholar Buddhaghosa. It is the Second Edition, published in 1968 by the Pali Text Society (PTS) in London; the first edition came out in 1886. Edited by T. W. Rhys Davids and J. Estlin Carpenter, this volume reflects the PTS’s major role in preserving and publishing Pāli texts in Roman script for modern scholars. The book is a light grey or beige cloth-bound hardcover and appears to be in Excellent condition. There are no clear signs of foxing, tears, writing, or missing pages.
