Solid binding with wear and some loss to the labels and the end of the spines.Internally well used with the start of a Fittes family tree to the front end paper and a Fittes bookplate in leather to the front paste down of both volumes. Both volumes have a frontispiece.The contents and text are tight and clean apart from the front free end paper which are loose but not detached.Foxing is present in both which can be heavy at times.Gilt titles to the red labels on spines are slightly difficult to read 'Henry's Bible'. Binding is solid. Hinges are externally strong with no break to the leather, internally cracked but solid.
The distinguished surname Fittes is of Scottish origin.

Paste downs and free endpapers are marbled. Front paste down is torn to the upper left corner. Front free endpaper is frayed and chipped at the page edge as are the pages up to the title page. Handwriting by a Joseph Robinson on both front and rear endpapers.Title page is age toned towards the edges, marked and has a closed tear on the bottom edge towards the center.Pages are age toning and worn. Pages 1231-1242 have the bottom right corner torn out, text is missing.Text is bright and clear. Overall a volume in contemporary binding in unrestored condition albeit worn, slightly damaged with loss and marked. No plates or maps present or evidence of them being bound in.
