This 1969 Éditions Montaigne printing of Gilbert Simondon’s Du mode d’existence des objets techniques is a foundational work in the philosophy of technology. Simondon examines how technical objects “exist” and their relation to human culture, influencing later thinkers such as Deleuze, Derrida, and Latour. As the first volume of the Analyses et Raisons collection, this early edition is highly valued by collectors of 20th-century French philosophy. This later impression was printed on 25 September 1980 by L’Imprimerie Floch in Mayenne and published by Aubier in the “philosophie de l’esprit” collection. Though not the rare 1941 first edition, it provides Hippolyte’s historically important French translation in an authoritative format. Condition is Grade B: solid softcover, light sunning and shelf wear, mild tanning to edges, clean interior with no visible markings. A strong reference copy for scholars and collectors of Continental philosophy. Hippolyte’s translation of Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit remains essential and, despite being a later imprint, should maintain stable market value in serious collections.
