A sought-after 1908 First American Trade Edition of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, illustrated by Arthur Rackham, published by Doubleday, Page & Co., New York, with sheets printed in England by William Heinemann. Features Rackham’s iconic tipped-in color plates on brown art paper with tissue guards, and the original tan cloth binding with gilt pictorial design. Condition: Grade B- cloth shows age-soiling, darkening, and corner wear; pages are age-toned with some foxing; plates appear in good condition. Rackham’s illustrations for this title are considered among his finest, and 1908 cloth-bound copies are increasingly scarce.
