1986年に東京国立近代美術館で開催された「近代の見なおしポストモダンの建築1960-1986」展のカタログ。84年、フランクフルトのドイツ建築美術館会館記念の展覧会が元になっており、同美術館所蔵の欧米の建築家29名による建築模型および図面・素描など約230点のほか、日本の建築家9名による代表作の模型および図面・素描で構成されている。建築における近代の見なおしとは、近代建築が不必要として切り捨てたものの中に、実は人間にとって快適な建築空間、都市環境をつくる上で不可欠な要素があったのではないか、という見なおしであり、問いかけである。
