The evangelization of non-Christians the world over has always found a place in the solicitous heart of the Holy Mother Church. One of the most effective means ever offered for this noble end is the integration of Christianity into the culture of the people. However, this is possible only if a resemblance or link between the two exists or can be created. Making the fundamental distinction between resemblance in form and resemblance in function, Fr. Lambrecht, an internation ally known authority in Ifugao anthropology, describes how some Ifugao local customs have been adopted to Christianity to facilitate the evangelization of these archi-tects of the world-famous Rice Terraces. Made possible by a resemblance in function, this integration, as Fr. Lambrecht observes, in no way paganizes or de-christianizes the Chris-tian Religion.
