F. C. Jones、Yale University Press、1931
This scholarly work examines Japan’s prolonged diplomatic effort to revise the “Unequal Treaties” and abolish Western-imposed consular jurisdiction. The copy bears the armorial bookplate of T. A. Walker Esq., LL.D., F.R.S.A., likely Thomas Alfred Walker (1862–1935), the noted historian of the Law of Nations and Fellow of Peterhouse, Cambridge, adding strong scholarly provenance. The foreword is by Jerome D. Greene, Chairman of the Townsend Harris Endowment and an important figure in early U.S.–Japan relations. Condition is Very Good with annotations: the original navy cloth binding is clean and tight with bright gilt lettering and minimal wear, while the interior shows age-toned endpapers and pencil annotations on the preface, introductory pages, and rear pastedown, likely by the former owner.
