Eleanor E. Buckley & Nandor Porges (Editors)、Ameri・・・
This is a rare second printing (1958) of Venoms, an important academic volume first published in 1956. It contains the key papers from the First International Conference on Venoms, held in Berkeley, California, in December 1954. This conference played a major role in establishing venom research—now known as venomology—as a modern scientific field. Edited by Eleanor E. Buckley and Nandor Porges and published as AAAS Publication No. 44, the book presents leading research of the time. The contents cover the chemistry, mechanisms, biological effects, and clinical uses of venoms from snakes, spiders, scorpions, and marine species. The cloth hardcover, titled “Venoms” in gold, is in good condition for its age. Condition is Grade B, with light shelf wear and normal tanning or foxing on the page edges, but the binding is still tight. This volume is a key primary source for collectors and researchers interested in toxicology, scientific history, and early post-war life-science research.
