J.S. Speijer / Dines Andersen、Rinsen-Shoten Bookst・・・
This is a matched two-volume set of classic Indology reprints published by Rinsen-Shoten (Kyoto) in 1968. Known for their excellent binding and printing, Rinsen editions are preferred by scholars over many other Asian reprints for their durability and clarity.
• Sanskrit Syntax by J. S. Speijer, Reprint of the 1886 Leiden edition, still the standard reference for Sanskrit syntax.
• A Pali Reader (with Notes and Glossary) by Dines Andersen — Reprint of the 1917 Copenhagen third revised edition, a key textbook for studying Theravāda Buddhist literature.
Condition (Very Good Vintage):
Both books are protected with clear vinyl dust jackets, likely original. The green cloth bindings are clean, bright, and sharp, with strong gold lettering. Inside, the pages show even age-toning typical of 1960s Japanese academic printing but remain flexible and not brittle. Text is crisp and unmarked. Bindings are tight.
